Speech and Drama is a fantastic addition for all young people with a passion for Drama. Not only will they benefit from one-to-one tuition but also enhance confidence and gain individual success in their grades.
Students will be prepared using the New Era Academy syllabus and can take exams in Verse and Prose, Acting, Devised Drama and many more performance options. They can work in pairs or small groups as well as gaining individual grades. During our sessions they will work with me on vocal delivery, stage technique and character as well as making creative decisions regarding exam material.
With 14 years’ experience of teaching Speech & Drama, I have seen the tremendous difference it can make to a student’s ability and achievement in the classroom. The sense of achievement for the individual is fantastic especially as they continue to gain grade after grade until they have them all! For the youngest students, the Verse and Prose exams give them the opportunity to concentrate on clarity and diction as well gaining an understanding of poetry, it’s meaning and basic needs to vocal delivery. As they move into the acting grades they will begin to take on new characters and increase their technical ability and knowledge for the purposes of success in the exam.
For those older students students taking GCSE and A Level, Speech & Drama is a natural complement to their studies, helping them to build their skills outside the classroom. Students wanting to apply for Drama at University or Drama school should consider Speech and Drama an essential part of their application process AND Grades 6,7 and 8 carry UCAS points - BONUS!
